Viera is an affluent top 25 master planned community located in the central coastal region of Brevard County. It is part of an unincorporated section adjacent to the Melbourne area. It offers a vibrant lifestyle and a variety of neighborhoods. Home to A-rated schools, shopping, planned parks and trails, recreation, houses of worship and healthy living options, it is a mix of residential and commercial development with lands set aside for the continued stewardship of the environment. It consists of 76 neighborhoods in two specific areas: Viera East (38) and Viera West (38) and includes five active adult communities, which are 55+.
Viera was originally owned by A. Duda and Sons, as Cocoa Ranch, but created it as a master planned community with mixed land uses including a variety of housing types, offices, medical and industrial parks, shopping centers and recreational facilities, by The Viera Company to expand the area and manage conservation. The name Viera means “faith” in the Slovak language in honor of the patriarch Andrew Duda, who emigrated in 1912 to the United States from Slovakia. Viera is home to several organizations including the Brevard Zoo, Brevard Public Schools and Viera Hospital, as well as Duran Golf Club and Space Coast Stadium. It also hosts a variety of events annually for both the community and the Brevard area.
